Automatic wallpaper does not have to mean one scheduled change each day. Your iPhone can show calming photos when it starts charging, family photos when it joins home Wi-Fi, and a cleaner collection when you open a work app. Once set up, these changes run without keeping MiraFolio open.

Know the two Shortcuts first
Their names are similar, but their jobs are easy to tell apart.
Switch Wallpaper Source
Moves to another photo collection and immediately applies one photo from it. Use it for home, work or bedtime.
Change Wallpaper
Keeps the current collection and advances to the next photo. Use it for regular scheduled changes.
A source can be an Apple Photos album, a MiraFolio Private Album folder, or tags such as “#Travel, #Family.” Give automated sources distinct names.
Prepare a few photo collections
Create sources such as Everyday, Family, Work and Bedtime, then make each source easy to recognize in Shortcuts.
- Import Switch Wallpaper Source from MiraFolio under Automation > Shortcuts.
- Enter the source name during import and run it manually once to approve permissions.
- Duplicate it in Apple Shortcuts for additional sources.
- Rename the copies—for example, Switch to Family and Switch to Work—and edit the source name inside each one.
- Import and test Change Wallpaper for scheduled changes.
1. Show a calming collection while charging
If you often charge before bed, connecting the charger can switch to a quieter collection.
- Open Shortcuts > Automation and create an automation.
- Choose Charger, then Is Connected.
- Choose Run Immediately.
- Run your Switch to Bedtime shortcut and save.
2. Show family photos on home Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is an easy way to tell home and work apart. Home can use family, pet or travel photos; work can use a cleaner collection.
- Create an automation and choose Wi-Fi.
- Choose your home network and the joined option.
- Choose Run Immediately.
- Run Switch to Family and save.
- Repeat for work Wi-Fi with Switch to Work if useful.

3. Change collections when an app opens or closes
Opening a fitness, reading, meditation or work app often marks the start of a different mode. It can also bring up a matching collection.
- Create an automation and choose App.
- Select the app and Is Opened.
- Choose Run Immediately.
- Run the matching Switch to Fitness or Switch to Work shortcut.
- To restore your usual collection, add another automation for Is Closed and run Switch to Everyday.

Avoid apps you enter and leave constantly, or the wallpaper may change too often. Fitness, reading and work apps are usually better choices.
4. Change one photo at a set time
If the collection should stay the same, schedule Change Wallpaper and keep the setup simple.
- Create an automation and choose Time of Day.
- Set the time and daily or weekly repeat days.
- Choose Run Immediately.
- Run MiraFolio Change Wallpaper and save.

If nothing changes, check in this order
Start with the simplest point instead of rebuilding everything.
- Run the Shortcut manually.
- Check that the album, folder or tag name still matches.
- Make sure the source has an eligible photo.
- Approve photo and wallpaper permissions when iOS asks.
- Confirm the automation uses Run Immediately.
- Then test the real charger, Wi-Fi, app or time event.
Personal automations belong to the current device. Check or recreate them when moving to another iPhone or setting up an iPad.
Start with one useful moment
You do not need all four automations at once. Try home Wi-Fi or one morning change, use it for a few days, and add more only when they feel helpful.
Highlights: iPhone & iPad
Give every favorite photo its turn, then let Shortcuts change the wallpaper around your routines — without giving up control of the collection.
- Random without repeats: Every photo gets a turn before MiraFolio reshuffles. Switch to sequential playback whenever order matters.
- Built for Apple Shortcuts: Change, archive, switch sources or tag the current wallpaper through actions that fit time, charging, Focus and location automations.
- Folders, tags and optional AI: Build rotation sources across folders and tags, or connect an OpenAI-compatible provider of your choice for tag suggestions.
